Materials

  • 1 cup dried elderberries
  • 4 cups water
  • 1- inch piece of fresh ginger sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup brandy optional; for longer storage

Instructions

  • In a pot, combine elderberries, ginger slices, a cinnamon stick, and water.
  • Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 30 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture, discarding the solids.
  • While the liquid is still warm, stir in the honey.
  • If desired, add brandy.
  • Store in a sanitized bottle and take 1-2 tablespoons daily for health.
